Ice Hockey, anybody? Yippeeee......NHL is back!

Naturally, I am a Maple Leafs fan.
Last night while doing pressing, I watch on TV, the support from the Torontonians, aiyoh, my goose pimples also stand. Opening night. The national anthem touched my soul.
But sadly, the Leafs' Captain, Mat Sundin is hurt. This evening, I learnt from the news that he suffered an eye socket fractured.
And I thought with Eric Lindros with us, we stand a chance at the cup.
Okay, now, over to you. Any hockey fans? Which team do you support? -
i dont watch professional ice hockey.. but i watch my school's games.. they won state champion last year.. cant wait till this years championships again

well ... to be honest, i don't know what's with ice hockey and Canadians ... i suppose it gets into your blood from the water you drink ... (like how everyone watches football in Singapore ...
)
But they do have interesting fights though ...
... that's one reason i watch them ... that and the beer and chips that comes with it ...

Were you in Edmonton when Doug Gilmour played for the Oilers? Oh, he was fantastic. I am a great fan of his but he has retired. The last season before the shutout, he was with the Leafs and first game, he got injured and sit out the entire season. Still, I like him alot. -
Yeap, Eric Lindros is with the Leafs. When Sundin was hurt by the puck, I can see that Lindros step in to take charge. He is fabulous. It was unfortunate that the Leafs lost their opening. Anyways, I think the highlight for me was watching Wayne Gretzy on the ice. He was then with the LA Kings and came to Edmonton to play the Oilers in an NHL game.
I was quite a big fan when players like Cujo, Doug Weight, Jason Arnott were still playing for the Oilers but that was like years back. -

I did mean Doug Gilmour. If he has never played for Oilers, then I must be referring to Calgary Flames. I never saw his hay days with the Flames though but he came over to the Maple Leafs, I think must be the 92/03 season. Then, I took notice of this small guy like a speedy gonzales.
Not much of a Gretzy fan but I have to give him the respect as he is after all, The Great and a Canadian!!!
Cujo? As in Curtis Joseph? Don't know Doug Weight but remembered this Arnott guy. A fighter, right?
Do you remember/know Tie Domi. He IS fighter.

I didn't catch this game as I was out but son said it was a lousy lost. The Leafs should have won, as in the opening against Ottawa.
Even last night. I thought with three goals within minutes of each other, the fate is sealed. But Leafs defence is weak man!!!

By the way, have you eaten at Lion City yet? Over on the East side, you may wish to try out Coconut Island. Their wat tan hor is the best. They are on South West quardron of Kennedy/Hwy 7. Another one is Restoran, on Major Mac and Bayview. South East side, on Major Mac. Their rojak is good. Both run by M'sians. People telling me the best one is Matahari, downtown. Don't ask me where 'cos I've never been. Heard it is upscale so can expect it to be pricey.

Ahaha ! Yeah trying to watch more games.. One bad thing is, i don't have a tv in my hostel's room. There's a common tv but they don't watch hockey there. I'm not with george brown. I'm currently studying at the culinary art school of ontario in mississauga. Good school..
I haven't headed to the pubs downtown yet but have been going to the ten's wine bar to catch my hockey games ! -

Oilers started off well winning their first 3 games but then slumped and lost their next 3 games.
They are playing Phoenix today. And phoenix is currently coached by none other than Wayne Gretzky. Should be an exciting game. -
