Read that he's out for 4 to 6 weeks?Originally posted by littlestream:Naturally, I am a Maple Leafs fan.
Last night while doing pressing, I watch on TV, the support from the Torontonians, aiyoh, my goose pimples also stand. Opening night. The national anthem touched my soul.
But sadly, the Leafs' Captain, Mat Sundin is hurt. This evening, I learnt from the news that he suffered an eye socket fractured. And I thought with Eric Lindros with us, we stand a chance at the cup.
Okay, now, over to you. Any hockey fans? Which team do you support?
Yipppeeee.........another hockey fan!!!Originally posted by Kismet:Edmonton Oilers!
The new season just started.
Yeap, Eric Lindros is with the Leafs. When Sundin was hurt by the puck, I can see that Lindros step in to take charge. He is fabulous. It was unfortunate that the Leafs lost their opening. They should have won but our defence let up. The second goal by the Senator's captain could have been prevented.Originally posted by Kismet:Read that he's out for 4 to 6 weeks?
Eric Lindros is with the Leafs now?
Hmm, have not really tracked player movements.
Erm, I think you are referring to Doug Weight. Don't think Doug Gilmour ever played for the Oilers.Originally posted by littlestream:Yipppeeee.........another hockey fan!!!
Oh, the Oilers.
Were you in Edmonton when Doug Gilmour played for the Oilers? Oh, he was fantastic. I am a great fan of his but he has retired. The last season before the shutout, he was with the Leafs and first game, he got injured and sit out the entire season. Still, I like him alot.
Oh yeah.Originally posted by littlestream:Yeap, Eric Lindros is with the Leafs. When Sundin was hurt by the puck, I can see that Lindros step in to take charge. He is fabulous. Well, looking forward to Saturday nights now. Actually, I've always. Just need to change channels. But winter certainly doesn't feel like winter without hockey, isn't it?
oh.....this IS getting embarrassing! I'm getting my sports trivial all wrong!!!Originally posted by Kismet:Erm, I think you are referring to Doug Weight. Don't think Doug Gilmour ever played for the Oilers.
Anyways, I think the highlight for me was watching Wayne Gretzy on the ice. He was then with the LA Kings and came to Edmonton to play the Oilers in an NHL game.
I was quite a big fan when players like Cujo, Doug Weight, Jason Arnott were still playing for the Oilers but that was like years back.

The only think I like about the Rangers was Mark Messier. Does he still plays for the Rangers? With 16 months of lockout, I am lost whose where now.
Oh, it's okay. I understand. School comes first. By the way, are you at George Brown?Originally posted by ben1406:sorry, been busy lately... i missed the last match ! was it gd ?
Wah, you go pub ah? Those sports pub downtown? It's very busy and noisy on games night, right? I've only been once and not even downtown. One quiet town up north east. Have you heard of Stouffville? Yeah, there.Originally posted by ben1406:yah ! i was told by someone at a pub to do so. so i'm "sort" of a leaf's fan now. GO LEAFS GO !
Ahaha ! Yeah trying to watch more games.. One bad thing is, i don't have a tv in my hostel's room. There's a common tv but they don't watch hockey there. Looking for a new place to move out to.Originally posted by littlestream:Oh, it's okay. I understand. School comes first. By the way, are you at George Brown?
It was a good game last night. Somehow the Flyers look bigger size to me. Our back up goal tender was good too. Well, hope you will catch more games.
Have fun with schools.
Yeah, Tie Domi was one mean bulldog.Originally posted by littlestream:oh.....this IS getting embarrassing! I'm getting my sports trivial all wrong!!!
I did mean Doug Gilmour. If he has never played for Oilers, then I must be referring to Calgary Flames. I never saw his hay days with the Flames though but he came over to the Maple Leafs, I think must be the 92/03 season. Then, I took notice of this small guy like a speedy gonzales.
Not much of a Gretzy fan but I have to give him the respect as he is after all, The Great and a Canadian!!!
Cujo? As in Curtis Joseph? Don't know Doug Weight but remembered this Arnott guy. A fighter, right?
Do you remember/know Tie Domi. He IS fighter.
Anyways, how did the Oilers started? The Leafs lost three in a row.
- yeah, bulldog suits him.Originally posted by Kismet:Yeah, Tie Domi was one mean bulldog.
Oilers started off well winning their first 3 games but then slumped and lost their next 3 games.
They are playing Phoenix today. And phoenix is currently coached by none other than Wayne Gretzky. Should be an exciting game.
Um... GO MINNESOTA WILDS!!!Originally posted by littlestream:- yeah, bulldog suits him.
Well, it is still early in the season. But you have a "foe" here. The nick MG is from Minnesota and Oilers and Wilds are in the same Division.
