Hey Fatum, I heard there is a village in Saskatoon name Love. Population of only 50 but they have 87 post boxes. It's become a touristy village for Valentine's. People actually want the postmark from that village.

it's off one of my friend's hometown, nipawin .... one of those 'ulu' towns where they say cows cross the road one ...

got to know this young Singaporean girl studying at a high-school over here ... (don't ask me how I get to know ... ) entire family uprooted themselves from a comfortable HDB existence and moved here ....
funny thing was her accent ... I thought she was one of those CBC chicks at first glance ... amazing how people can pick up and totally assimilate a tongue in a short period of time ... a little less than a year ...

Orh, that one trying to erase her identify ah? *paiks forehead* Jia lat. Actually, many S'poreans I know, when they first landed, they came with this high almighty attitude. But soon enough, they get humbled when they found it difficult to get a job......or shall I say, to get a good high-paying or something equivalent with what they left Sg with.
They discovered that "yes, the world is THAT big" and the competition. Not only with your own kind but with the ang mohs also. Which mostly, the ang mohs can spiak (speak) very well even though maybe sometimes inside kang kang (empty). -

The lifestyle is different bah. I mean it is seasonal. So, in a way, whatever one can do, perhaps only for a couple of months and then got to move on to next activity.
Like in Spring, we will start making trips to the nursery. But plants, veggies. Do gardening and stuff. Then summer. Lots of BBQ, picnics, hanging out outside of house. Travels and driving. Go out of town, cottage country, or drive to neighbouring province or even driving down south to the different US states.
Then come Fall. Time to rake, clear garden. New school year. Get children organized. Prepare the home for winter. And then finally, the dreaded Winter. Stay indoors. Rent movies. Snuggle up!!! Shovel snow. Make snowman, snow angels. Go ski resorts. Have more home gatherings/parties among friends. Improve culinary skills.
And then there is that big open space. Bigger parking lots. -
