That's a good question. Cracking skin is something that almost everyone living in these cold and dry climes has to endure. Sometimes, the cracking is severe enough to cause bleeding. Many people rub moisturizing cream on their hands to prevent skin cracking. It works, except that you have to put up with that 'grimy' feeling through the day. -

all in all .. it was pretty interesting to see a real liberal democracy at work ... candidates actually visited the school to hold rallies ... and people, students actually cared and listened ... and they actually give a shit about what the candidates were standing for before deciding on their votes ....
(but some chaps south of the border will probably be happy to see the conservative in power ... though they haven't really got a majority and will likely fall soon ... cos lots of people believe Harper will commit Canada deeper into the war on terror .... Iraq in other words ... ) -

It's been a lovely Jan and the sun is shinning. I've been saving my vacation for bad weather but guess what? I have been using it for sick days. I am at home again today 'cos my eyes got re-infected. I've got new antibiotic drops. I am REALLY going to take it easy today to rest the eyes.
Don't worry, I'll be logging off soon.

Fatum: it IS really interesting to see that democratic process and rallies you mentioned. Sad to say, our generation have never seen a real one here. Tsk...tsk....what does that say about democracy here? Or shd we be thankful that things are so 'peaceful' here?

It's been slightly over a week with this eye infection. The bacteria were immune to the first prescribed antibiotic drops. Hence, I never got better. I went for a second visit to the doctor. This time, I got a different drop and it is showing signs of recovery although the eye is still pink.
Yeap, I am making "taking care of myself" my first priority. I am not starting the new year very right. Have been taken ill for a bit. I honestly wish to be well soon. It feels terrible to not be able to do stuff. No, I wasn't referring to watching drama. I was referring to cleaning house. Yeap, you bet.
How have you been, MG? It's been a mild winter, won't you say. You took lovely shots. Makes one feel to visit such picturesque landscape but I've or at least, we've lived here long enough to know the nasty old winter. -
Oh yeah. Pacific Mall makes one feels like you are shopping in HKG. The Chinese malls and Chinese supermarkets are also patronized by different ethnic Canadians. What is Canada? Multiculturism. this is going to the landlord ....
now i don't give a damm about what he thinks, or that he's a lunatic ... or even care about all the racist epithets ... but he's keeping me awake at night ... and he's got the cheek to tell me to shut up and quit "banging" on the walls at night ! ....

From your description, it sounds like your neighbour's a few cans short of a six-pack up there. Since his mental condition does not make him too amenable to reason, you did the right thing to complain to your landlord. Actually, Fatum....Canada has ZERO TOLERANCE of any display of racial discrimination. Well, at least I know here in Toronto, we hold this value with utmost importance. That neighbour of yours could get himself into trouble here. He's been getting away with his behaviour!
Have you discussed with your your room mates? You shouldn't have to put up with this and handle this all by yourself. You paid rent!!! Your landlord should say something to this guy. You didn't fork out money to subject yourself to sleepless nights. Your landlord, being the owner of the premises has the right to impose some kind of rules and considerate behaviour for all concerned and all have to abide by it, otherwise, hit the road, man! Like my friend like to say to his kids "My Way or The HighWay!"
Whatever it is, please take care of yourself. And I honestly hope you will/can resolve this issue. If need be, move. We all deserve better. -
