Out from Toronto, I think CNY is low season ba. Depending on carrier, about C$1.4k - C$1.6k return.

Well, I suppose I could take a domestic flight out to the coast and connect with SIA, but that would mean more stops and a longer travel time, with the greater possibility of my luggage getting lost. Not going back during CNY this time, to my MIL's disappointment
Instead, will be going back during Christmas period, as my workplace closes down from 23 Dec-2 Jan (hey do companies in the US/Canada close down during Christmas period too?)
I bought a 1-yr open ticket from Singapore, much cheaper than buying from here, about half the normal price at least, and flying SIA too!

it was -16 here yesterday .... got a few inches of white powder ......
but because it just rained a few days before ... the whole place's frosted over in a coat of white icing .... beautiful .... -
Fatum: somehow........icing takes my mind off to food. Getting ready to bake my mocca balls and pistachio balls. Both coated with icing.

Nope, no special plans for the Thanksgiving uber-long weekend. As has been tradition for the past decade, I have accepted an invitation from a good friend to have Thanksgiving dinner with his family and him on Thanksgiving day.
Sounds like your friend's sister has quite a long drive ahead. But it should be worth it for her, as the Asian food in Toronto is probably much better than what is available in Ohio. -
