Yes, I agree that Northwest is not the best airline out there, but they do offer the most convenient routing from the Twin Cities to Singapore, i.e., MSP-NRT-SIN.
The only drawback is that the flight gets into Changi at around 1 a.m., and departs at around 7 a.m.
Their fares are also relatively reasonable. If I book a flight early enough during the off-peak travel season, I can usually secure a return ticket for a little under US$1000. In addition, each flight is long enough to yield sufficient FF miles for a free domestic ticket.
Of course, with Northwest in Chapter 11 now, it's anyone's guess as to what will happen to them in the long term.

Took northwest from san fran and chicago before. Big no no. Although it stops over at narita, the difference in time isn't much as compared to stopping over at incheon. Ben, if you take SQ from vancouver, there will be a 1 hr stopover at incheon for refuelling. I remember only paying about $1600 for a 2 way from toronto to singapore via AC/SQ. Didn't have a good experience with AC though.
As for CX, it flies to alaska/HK/SG. AC flies Toronto/Vancouver/KL/SG I think. Cant remember cause flew it quite a few years back. -
ohh.. argh ! this is what i hate.. having so many stop overs. Stop overs are good. Allows you to explore a new place, get up and do some real walking and eat some local stuff. I've tried almost everything at incheon airport

so far, my flights touching down at all the airports were all delayed so i had to run around the airports.. haven't got a chance to try anything at all. Take SQ confirm won't have to run around airport. Cause from the time AC touches down in vancouver to when SQ takes off, the lapse is about 3-4hrs, which gives u ample time to go BK for a meal, read a book, or buy some duty free stuff!

Northwest's industrial action is still ongoing ... infact ... there seems to be an escalation brewing .....
so avoid that airline if you can .... -
