well, im just quoting from the uni rankings..Originally posted by Fatum:errrrrrr ...... I'm not sure about that lor ....
it depends on what you're looking for .... if you're looking to graduate as soon as possible, direct honours and multiple excemptions from your previous school, say poly modules, then you do NOT come to canada, or the US for that matter ... many schools are very stingy with excemptions ... it's iffy for anything less than an A, and they'll scrutinize the course synopsis closely also ...

yeah .... the foreign exchange would kill eh .....Originally posted by HENG@:FX?
just don't think about the exchange rate. Whats the point? U think u'll just feel bad about buying anything. Besides when we grad n work here, we more than make up for it, afterall, the salary we'll get is according to the standards of living here. I've reset myself to think in terms of pounds. The added advantage is that when i go back to sg for holidays i can shop more because things seem so cheap!Originally posted by Fatum:yeah .... the foreign exchange would kill eh .....
I have a friend who went over to study law there around the same time I came here .... I still remember his first email sent from there ..... "a coffee and a sandwich cost me S$30 !!!!!! ... "
I wonder if he's still traumatized by it ....
how do you guys, the UK contingent, deal with the exchange rate though ? .... must be rather heavy on the pockets eh .....
Yah, the forex. If I earning the pounds, then it's all fine and well. But to be earning C$ and then losing half of every dollar to send son there? I will be bleeding.Originally posted by HENG@:FX?
somewhere along the line, one must break the chain of poverty. imagine, in future, my kids, adopted or genetic, will be better off living here than living in sg.Originally posted by littlestream:Yah, the forex. BTW, tuition fees range from C$4.5k - C$6.5k. So, I better pray hard that my son will get admitted to the local uni. Even out of town one can burn a hole. Housing lah, transport lah.
Better go check my bank account. It will be soon!
hmmm .... oh well ... i still feel pretty lucky to be from Singapore than some third world shit hole though .... maybe it's just my parents' hardwork, but I'm quite proud that a middle class Singaporean family (like mine) can afford to send their kids for studies overseas ...Originally posted by HENG@:somewhere along the line, one must break the chain of poverty. imagine, in future, my kids, adopted or genetic, will be better off living here than living in sg.
1st 6 months, every time u buy something, u X3.... after 6 months.... well... sianz liaoz.... cant b bothered cos if continue to b like that, well, too miserable liaoz.... ha.... and i agree with what heng said.... when go back singapore, then really feel very shiok to shop..... go m'sia, laggi better.....Originally posted by Fatum:yeah .... the foreign exchange would kill eh .....
