Majong for life?

I see people like my parents and aunties who have been playing majong for over 30 years .
And cant help to wonder where is the fun in playing majong ?
First of all they always play damn big and lose like 700+ one time .
Secondly is very loud and noisy .
Lastly sometimes play until all buea song. But then they`ll come back and play again .
I do know how to play it . But i dont find it really fun lea .
Or is it just that singaporeans just love to gamble ?

Tis type of thing same as everything in life.. Why ppl play soccer?? sometime also play till leg broken but still play.. Y?? they like chasing a balls so much?? Go figure.. 兴趣!

Logically, out of 4 players, if one lose, someone will wins, so u cannot said lose more than win. It not like playing with Singapore Pool where the govt wins.I look at the mahjong set and it spell mahjong nor majong, majong is a kind of bird named in chinese.
To most aunties and uncles, these are their past time hobby, when my grandma and aunties come and play, i will play reserve, cos some may want to excuse themselve to go toilet or call on some private matters, then i will stand in.
Me very good in mahjong, i also enter mahjong competition at my CC, me no need to see, by touching only, me know what tile is it

actually hor, when i play with aunties, i throw the tile fast fast and take another one, then they blur blur dun dun which one i thrown, hehehe..then i will sarcastically call...fei di lah, fast fast,,quickly quickly, then aunties all become very agitated and blur blur..then i wins lor...hahahahaFor Uncles or men, just show my legs and lower my t-shirt can win them liao.
So, play mahjong must hv tactics ya, not only depend on luck.

it ok lah, my english olso lousy mah, no hard feeling ya, aiyo, uncles and aunties many CPF lor. Wearing those bifocal lenses, u go fast fast, they get headaches hahahaha...but damn, their coolness alway win me, cos i no patience and very daring...kenna pao liao, also anyhow thrown my tiles, wa!! hv to pay all of them. -

Mahjong, is not just a game of luck.
Mathematics is heavily involved. I wrote a program to test out the possible combinations of what the players have based on what the discards, a staggering 2000+ combinations curned out.
But computers are not experienced or wisdom players. Analysis is based solely on the figures provided. A human player with experience will be able to deteremine if the anyone is trying to call a stunt or really have the tiles.
Mahjong is considered a good mind game as it helps to facilitate the degrading brain of ours to to work. Unlike chess, there is no currency involved. Mahjong, try playing without cash, and you will see the "old birds" playing crap. Try $1 $2 games, you see how they play defensive guarding and offensive feeding.
Really, learn and try playing it. Very interactive. :D

As long as its gamble.. u need luck de lor.. mj need, poker need.. though skill is needed.. but luck still stand more if u wanna win.. tat is a cfm thing.. else its nt call gamble
