So with the COE in abundance and car prices falling, my dad is thinking of getting a new family car and asked me to do some research. browsed through the usual japanese car makers' website and i admit i am a sucker for small, well-designed hybrid cars like the Prius and so when i came across the Nissan Leaf, i became very interested in it.
Nissan doesn't display the price on it's website. Does anyone here know whether it's for sale? Or whether it's feasible to drive an electric car in SG ? I heard it takes 8 hours to charge =/

Prius is not a full eletric car. It's a hybrid.Supposedly environment friendly but in reality a toxic(giant battery) on wheels.
Overseas where car owners have a garage to charge their cars overnight, electric cars will work.
Here in SG...not so much. Imagine lugging the charging unit and cable to HDB carpark to connect to a public power socket - next day the summons will come no questions asked.
I would love to have en electric car too but as of now, only hybrid types available in sgp. As for hybrid car, the road tax is too expansive.
Tesla not there yet? That car is awesome!!
The tax incentives for such cars are not there. Cannot see why anyone would want one.
I heard that Tesla will help you install the charging infrastrucutre in your home where your park (not in SG though). I think electric car is not really a good option now in SG as the infrastructures are still not in place. I guess it requires a high penetration level of electric cars before more charging stations are built.
Buy only if there are enough support and recharging facilities!
solve the power souce first..
If my carpark has charging lot and there's incentive for buy electric car. Then that's the time I will buy.
Still prefer petrol or hybrid car.
Maybe after 2-3 years
hybrids are more sustainable
