Yay!!!! The economy is doing well!
High coe equals good economy!
ohhh.. the sheer idiocy of it all...
ok lor, motorcycles still affordable lor hor? hor? hor? hor?
Just one word...CRAZY!
i think the dealers have a lot to do with this..
also, the taxi companies...
i asked a Hyundai guy at IMM, he said that for every 500 COEs for a certain category, the taxi companies are snapping up about 330 of them
i thot if taxis need COE for their new fleet, COE will be...erm adjusted...to say...$1?

they need it now..
and you know the gabrament don't give a shit who they sodomise for $$$
besides, SMRT, SBST, Comfort, whoever the hell can then go and financially sodomise the taxi-drivers by increasing the rent, who will make noise and the companies increase the fares, in an act of financial double-sodomy, will then go and sodomise the passengers and the cabbies at the same time...
whatever it is, there will be financial sodomy

i've got my car until mid-2015
i just hope the idiocy ends by then...
MBT really should be dragged out and tried for treason... and when found guilty, have a pain intensifier surgically implanted into his bollocks, tied up and imprisoned in a dark, damp and flea-infested cell right in the sewers... where he will be kept alive medically for the rest of his accursed life
Wah that means population going to increase even more.
Singaporeans have to bear the burden of these moronic PAP policies.
28 months bonus.
Huat ah.
my car + COE only cost S$81000 6 years back. now the price of the COE is even more than the value of my car + COE? haha
In the future, HDBs in Singapore will be $2 million and a Korean car will be $0.5 million.

It's all due to greed.

sooooo... you think MBT deserves to be tried for crimes against our nation?
When COE reachs 500K for your 1200cc car, then you don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Driving a car is surreal.

Times will be bad when even the cheapest china made cars in Sg cost 200K.
The COE alone can drive nice Porsche in USA.
What is the "acceptable" cost of a COE? I agree that COE is necessary but it is too costly now. I think that 30K is acceptable.
Come 2013 onwards, cars are due for scrapping. Then the supply of COE may increase. Hopefully the banks are not so liberal with car loans too. (in the early 2000s, loan-to-value ratio can be 100% and 10 years loan are common. This drove up the demand since many more people can cope with the monthly payments.) However, the pent up demand from now to then may dampen the effect of the increase in COE.
So what does it take for a Singaporean or PR to drive in SG? How much much you make monthly to afford a car? A normal grad (1-5 yrs exp) with $5K pay would probably not be able to afford.
i might be able to make a tidy profit if i sell my 3yo car now.
