yes, i know your situation like most people here................
don't buy a car unless it's absolutely necessary..................
even Jim Rogers, a multi-billionaire don't buy a car in s'pore !
Half of that $90,000 goes into buying that COE?
2c worth,
SG buy car not worth it coz of high maintenance of vehicle.
Use the SGD90,000 to invest better...
Another point to note:
After election, these will probably happen:
1. ERP will go
2. Car park fees will go up
3. COE will still stay high
4. MORE ERP gantries...
Think, SG is quite accessible by public transport. i take public tpt with my kid in tow, stroller and a bag and i dun find it a hassle.
On the bus, you can relax no need to think of finding a space to park and also take a short nap or play hand held games...

ok forgot to reply ur question,
for family=altis
for person =toyota axio because low fuel consumption
or a honda city.
kia cerato also nt bad in design and fuel
90k for a car. Siao bo. haha. Never mind to buy one if you feel u got extra. no where to spend.
maybe a 2nd hand mini.
should be cerato forte. Altis is cramp at the back
I'd go for Forte. But yeah if you have the money go for it. I do have a car, but sometimes i find it more convenient to take the public transport to town area and esp during peak hours. Buying it and sharing with your family is more worth it. Take turns to use etc. Then separate costs.
I will buy a used Golf Sport.
