VOLVO is recalling about 300 vehicles in Singapore for an engine software upgrade as a pre-emptive measure against the possibility of the vehicles jerking or stalling at low speeds.
About 11,000 cars of the S40, V50 and C30 models from 2009 onwards are involved in the recall worldwide, following investigations by the Volvo headquarters in Sweden.
Affected customers were informed late last week by a letter sent from local Volvo distributor Wearnes Automotive.
It said recent investigations have identified that the engine revolutions per minute may oscillate at low speed or when idling, which may lead to a risk of personal injury and property damage.
But Wearnes' assistant general manager Sabrina Sng said there have been no reported cases of such incidents actually happening and the recall is more of a precautionary step.
'There is no serious risk of safety and customers can continue driving their cars,' she said.
