I believe that in some part of our everyday life, we've experienced seeing couples expressing their public display of affection (PDA) or even done it personally. While it is not a crime to express PDA, certain actions can get rather obscene.
Kissing in public would earn you stares from passer-bys. True, you have control over your own life and nobody can tell you what to do and what not to do, as long as you're not breaking the laws. You sometimes dig your nose or scratch your ass when you're at home, but do you do the same thing in public? If yes, congratulations for exhibiting a no restrain behaviour.
Intimacy between couples should be discreet, in my opinion. Having a conservative Asian culture, is it morally right to show more than acceptable PDA? The western culture promotes displaying of affections openly. But this is the east, where the sun rises, not the west, where it sets. Youngsters are becoming influenced by the western culture, adopting a pseudo-culture. Some young couples behave the way couples do in western movies, which is behaving intimately in public. But would they do that if their parents were around?
Just this afternoon, I was at a shopping centre. Again, I beseech that while PDA is not against the law, some actions can be rather obscene. There was this young couple (probably still in their teens), standing outside a music school. The guy had his hand in the girl's back pocket of her pants. If that was all, it would be fine. But he was actually squeezing her butts, and continued to do it even though many people were around. Is this PDA, or is this lust?
Back to the question, do you condone or condemn extreme PDA? Which level of PDA do you think is acceptable?
