Why is downloading child p0rn illegal

  As you know in the news recently there was a story about an MOE scholar who was caught in UK because he downloaded child p0rn.

  I dont really understand this.

  I think, there is a difference between what a person does in his private sphere, and what he does in the public sphere.

  And there is a difference between a fantasy and the real world.

  For example,

  I play computer game.

  This computer game is a shooting game.

  It is violent.

  But, it is only a fantasy and it is unreal.

  Unless if I go out and actually shoot people in the street, what I do with my computer in my spare time, is my personal business and does not harm anybody.

  This case is the same in my opinion.

  Unless he goes out and molest little children (which I would support stringent punishment), then, to me, this is a law which regulates people's minds, and regulates what a person can or cannot fantasize.

  This seems a little odd.

  Anyways,

  What do you think about this law, and do you understand the logic and philosophy behind it ?

  cos by downloading a game.. u are supporting a game developer.... and he willl make more game for u...

  by downloading child porno... u are supporting a idiot who rape and abused a child... and he will rape more kids so he can provide things for u to download...

  I suppose it's the same as possessing a gun, you can keep it and don't harm anyone, but still, it's against the rules because there is that potential to harm. Although deep down, it's just to appease those loud-voiced morally right people...

  but for every child porno u own... i just telling them to rape more kids  and that will cos alot of harm...

  And ya by d/ling child porn you're creating an industry for these assholes, who will den proceed to force more children into sex for porn.

  End result= increase in the number of kids being raped

  Therefore, ppl who watch child porn have a hand in the abuse, and are equally guilty.
