No pain no gainOriginally posted by SBS1908B:What I really hate is the needless risking of lifes in EVERY NKF show.
Makes me kinda wonder who is saving who.
Yeah, but its not worth it! I will donate even without such acts!Originally posted by babymac13:No pain no gain

If the major donors are to focus of NKF just bcos their promotion & marketing, where can other charities organisation get their donation since we, folks have the limits into donations.
Personally i feel that it is perfectly ok for NKF to raise a large amount of money through charity shows, flag days or whatever... as long as the funds raised are spent on the needy patients as much as possible, and not on things like high salaries for the CEOs or lavish, extravagant decor etc.. [b]It really doesn't matter which charity organization the money goes to, since the people who are going to benefit are the same group of needy people.

Sad to hear that.Originally posted by odysseus:NKF do seem to "steamroll" the other smaller charities which are just as important and do not have the reserves or operating budget of NKF.
I had a friend's father who generously donated (quite substantial amounts) to NKF for many years and then when he needed dialysis NKF said he was denied treatment bcos he didn't fit their (NKF's) criteria.
Personally I would rather donate to other charities.
Yup, that's the sad fact of life.. ultimately which charity gets the money boils down to which one is best at doing PR, publicity and/or has the most connections.Originally posted by babymac13:Well, wat u say is quite true, NKF needs money to run their organisation & constantly saving the kidney patients & children suffering from some chronic diease. Hmmm.. actually i think that's fair enough. The decision on which patient to help should be based on the patient's individual needs and not on how much he has donated to the organisation before.. unlike buying an insurance policy.Originally posted by odysseus:I had a friend's father who generously donated (quite substantial amounts) to NKF for many years and then when he needed dialysis NKF said he was denied treatment bcos he didn't fit their (NKF's) criteria.
Me also used to be a supporter for NKF. I will received their yearly NKF donation card. But now ..hmmm, not so warm heartedly liao.Originally posted by Meilin86:NkF really too much. Always give prize and money. But where the money come from? Why are they are so different? I hate to see the winner get their prizes and shake their butts on the TV. A condo or a car can cost so many calls of donation. Now where got hao xin ren ( good-hearted) want to donate their prize.
Now they still issue student the NKF card to ask the student to donate. Some sort of CCA then myst participate on behalf of their school. My cousin just got the card and ask me to donate.
