Come on... dont bitch about whether Tekong, Sispec or OCS is tough. If u r in a mono-intake, than u know wats really tough! I was from the 46 SAR mono-intake. And i aint complaining. In fact, its pretty fun. As for those who complain about Sispec being the in-between, i got to tell u this. In some Units, its the appointment that counts, not the rank. My colleagues, who r Op specs, get to fuck MAJ and SWOs ok. Being a LTA doesnt makes much difference also. I must stress again, its the appointment that count. I am a PTE, and yet i get to fuck people who is several ranks higher than me for not compling to my orders as my appointment as a Budget Asst puts me in charge of MONEY. And u know wat money can do to the world.

Anyway, i do agree that OCS is worth it...but not in the way that you can be 'top' of a unit or something...but because in the various discipline and handling-of-men skills etc instilled in you in OCS.
BMT siong? Heck man...i think gotta make some comparisons to the lao jiaos we have here in the forum...tekong more like a hoilday resort to me man... -
Don't sweat the small stuff. It doesn't seem like it now but it does get better. At the end of it all, you'll be able to look back and smile on the memories. You'll never want to do it again even if anyone paid you to, but you'll be glad you did make it through these rough times.
And if you're wondering, it is easier said than done, but many have come and gone. You're gonna be alright!

now the life of recruit in Tekong is damn good already lah...one of my friend went back tekong for reservist, he said tekong looks like holiday resort!!!!!
last time i in tekong, our company everyday ganna tekan, everytime do push up till 19 then officer say no count, start from 0!!!!!
the food we eat compared to now, is hell ve heaven...last time eat finish must go wash cook house, then kanna tekan by the cooks!!!!
who expereince this before: road march for the whole day, then at night do guard duty, next morning do SOC!!!!! Yes its ME!!!! -

1. U must have at least an A-level or Diploma Cert. If u r a scholar(special paper), your chances will increase by 50%.
2. Talk 2 your PC abt. it n b more "on" in front of him.
3. I do believe your ECA record helps.
4. Peer Appraisal does have a certain weightage, so treat your peers well.
5. U need not b super-fit, as I had seen pple who juz got a pass in their IPPT into OCS.
Btw, I'm from the 19/95 OCC n my vocation is an OCS Infantry Instructor. OCS is not as xiong as what many pple think, but it stresses alot on the 7 core values. i.e. Loyalty 2 country, leadership, Discipline, Professionalism, Fighting Spirit, Ethics n Care 4 soldiers. One of the incentive is the $500++ allowance.
To all serviceman still in their BMT phrase:
When I looked back 2 my army life, all I can remember is my BMT life n not the days as an instructor whacking pple. BMT is the best part of my life, thou' it is xiong(40th SAR Mono-intake), it is memorable. U do push-up, fatigue, duties,.....2gether n u will never experience this kind of cohensiveness 2gether again. Treasure your Platoon, section-mates, coz this is the oni period of time in your 3yrs of service whereby u will have this kind of feeling.

For those who r officers/specs in the Army and refuses to belive that a PTE can fuck an higher rank personnel. Here is what i got to say ---------------------------->
When an unit controls LFA/Ranges, he/she controls whichever units get to use which ranges/LFA and on which day.
Which means, if your unit is located in the east, that unit can allocate u a range/LFA that is in the west. And choose the date allocated to u on an Sat and Sun or best, public holidays(which means u burn your weekends)Or even reject u to give that area to other units. And when u r having your range/LF, we can choose to disrupt your training session which means you will get to go back to your bed late in the nite.
Not only that, that unit also controls where u can do your training (be it a life run or other training areas)
There r other things which that unit controls which r essential to your units' training. But thats alot to digest for now.

OCS is definitely not simple, esp the confinement period, some things to savour, 1) army cooks...man..they are the most f-up ppl i had ever seen in my entire NS (no offence though 2) for combat engineers, the manual bridge has been phased out..now CE dun construct bridge liaoz..all manual one..lucky har...

IPPT is usually taken few weeks b4 your POP. But way b4 that, most PCs n commanders had already chosen those eligible 2 go 4 OCS.
But once u r in OCS, during your Tri-service term, IPPT weights heavily in your overall Tri-service assessment. -

Selection for OCS in BMT is not entirely based on physical fitness results..in fact..it is oni a minor factor.. impt thing is ur attitude and leadership quality..these are things that cannot be trained up..either u have it or u dun have it..fitness n SOC weak? dun worri..i have fella cadets who can't do a single chin up in OCS..but after all the INHUMAN wacking (trust me) behind the closed doors of the luxourious SAFTMI during tri-service and service term..hhaha.U will be super super fit..trust me..wan to go OCS..not diff...perform in BMT..show that u can lead and Onz abit..can liaoz..but of coz..dun overdo it...else u will be labelled as wayang

Keep saying u r officer, dont even know if its true. At least i am pround to be a PTE, unlike people some people, sour grapes. Wahahaha...
