It's not the training that is xiong... but its the initial confinement period where all day you think about your loved ones back home.
January batch is lucky, they get to come out for CNY in a few days only. April batch we stay in there for 3 weeks!!!

Oh yeah.. for those wondering how I get to post this, I got Attend C for 2 days because of high fever... 39.5 degrees. The medic see the thermometer he went 'wah fucker!....'

Hey guys, just some advise, try to make it for OCS. Trust me,, it's worth it. It's better being at the top or at the bottom. Don't stay in the middle. Life is bad when you're in the middle. Anyway, I was an officer, just disrupted to study in Australia. NS isn't so bad guys. Trust me.

OCS holiday camp?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Maybe i have left army for too long.....i was in OCS in 1990...the last batch of IOCC...the Bravo/Echo Cohort...it never occured to me that it is a holiday camp.
I have to agree with Chaz that it is better to be either at top or bottom....Section Leader/Platoon Sgt...stuck in between PC and Men...not easy for them. -
Correct man. if u want then go OCS if not then chao keng downgrade be clerk, cook or driver... SISPEC is so siong n after going through shit, u r onli a sergeant and get stuck in between...
BTW, OCS get 5 weeks of confinement and iz NOT a holiday resort mind u... I took BMT in my stride but iz the first time I broke down n cried after 2 days in OCS... iz not onli physically tough, iz mentally tough as well in OCS...
Jason: another point, the January batch was confined for 10 days then iz CNY, not a few days and I believe for your batch iz 2 weeks not 3 weeks confinement... who tell u bo tai bo chi think of all your loved ones? u onli make your own life miserable... try to give your best and concentrate on the task on hand so that u wun have time to think of other things n u will be so tired u will knock off once light off then time will fly... -

ya agreed, OCS/SISPEC is definitely NOT holiday resort. luckily i dun have the chance to go there cos my friends say PES C dun go there. (is it??? i'm not very sure)

i guess it's just the lack of sleep. kekekekekekeke. recruits confine, the instructors also confine with them, so everybody also siong like that.
besides, no standing in the sun, no mess tray to wash, no vulgarities against recruits, everything also cannot, how to train hard.
luckily i'm in sispec, can goreng and don't risk getting charged.

hey i beg to differ okie.. i was an instructor there n my PC was a sword of merit holder.... plus there were 3 "silver bayonets " holders' speC in my coY...it is not what u think... muz depends on that particular moment.. which unit needs more specs or officers....Originally posted by andrewtay:. Yeah I agree that even the best do stay at the schools. My batch, Infantry Sword of Honour in OCS (31/9
, Stayed as an instructor. And many other sword of merits stayed too. The logic is that they want better Instructors in OCS nowadays, hence the regular APCS.
My view is that it's better to suffer 10 months in OCS getting better pay and then passing out as an offcer. Depending on posting it may be 8 to 5 or some other siong posting. But being an Officer has perks that allows a better life in NS. And the pay does help too.
I was posted to an 8 to 5 instructional role. Only staying back or going overseas when training demanded it. The best thing it was 5 mins from my house and near Holland Village. -

Think bout it, where & when do we get the chance to fire the M16 like nobodybiz....learn to drive armoured vehicles...bash through jungles like u never believe u can do it....have meals for free...have so many frienz and every weekend is chiong & chiong....wow such a nice life where to find....
An advice to those in the army :ENDURE and chiong for OCS...its damn worth it man...! -

I'm out for the long weekend! But have to go to field camp after I book in. I hate IFC.
It's not the training that's tough, and it's true that there is no lack of facilities or amenities. There's plenty of welfare. What's tough is adapting to the change in lifestyle and coping with the lack of direction or sense of purpose in life.
I guess it depends on the person and how they take it. -
