Is St John's Island open to the public for camping?

i dunno, but used to, cos we always hold the orientation camp for freshies during 1996 to 2000, the last one i went was in 2001, now, i dunno if its still opened

yes, you need to get permit from national parks

you need to make some bookings with an organisation which I forgotten but i can check it out for you if you interested.
i'm not sure if you can do camping there. you actually book the bunker with beds and toilet outside the bunker like those old army style. its quite cheap. i think i can also use the kitchen with a freezer.
i think a portion of the island is now being used for other purpose. -
This portion, at one end of the island, is now housing facilities for marine and aquaculture researches.
