Use SingNet's free Internet access without that UGLY ad bar.

  If you live in Singapore, every residential phone line has a free internet account from SingNet.
  
  The catch to using this free access is that you have to install SingNet's modified version of IE 5 which replaces the explorer logo on the top right hand of the screen with a horrible looking SingNet logo. Also, their dialer installs an ugly advertisement bar on the top of your screen which covers everything and flashes advertisemnts at you as you surf the net. Basically this internet access is not really free and it inconveniences the user, also, the way SingNet forces its logo into OUR browsers is plain silly.
  
  So how do you get free internet access without all these inconveniences? SIMPLE:
  
  1) Your username is 'SXXXXXXX' where XXXXXXX is your phone number. Your password is your billing account number.
  
  2) open 'my computer' --> 'dial up networking' --> 'new connection'.
  
  3) The number to dial is 2178888, fill in the username and password as well.
  
  You do not need to install a new browser or tolerate their self-serving advertisement bar. Simply open your browser and change your proxy server to point at proxy.zapsurf.com.sg:8080.

  toll charges apply, so it's not totally "free". it's just a way to make you spend more time online so your bills get higher and higher and the management level of singtel gets richer and richer

  Also, the proxies can be changed to faster servers. You may use the following servers (I've checked them out):
  
  203.124.1.160
  203.124.1.179
  203.124.1.181
  
  All servers are in IP form so that it does not need DNS lookup.
