I am a member of the Press working as a Web Coordinator for Project Eyeball newspaper, under SPH. I have been given the responsibility of organising our publication's coverage of a forthcoming conference on 'Safe Internet Surfing', entitled Safe Surfing 2001 (further details at:
www.safesurfing2001.com) from 22-24 Feb 2001. I hope the legal or other expert community out there can help me out with this.
Basically, one important area I wish to cover for our readership is that of Internet censorship and the legal ground surrounding this area in Singapore itself. I know there is a certain lack of public awareness here and I want to put that right with an FAQ on our site. Questions which may seem obvious such as "Will I get prosecuted if I accidentally stumble across a porn site ?" etc. as well as more in depth examples, to be decided upon in the near future.
If anyone with suitable expertise, would care to help us in answering these questions in a pointed and suitable clear way, we would be tremendously grateful.
Also, we anticipate giving readers the chance to ask their own questions on the legal issues surrounding the matter of Internet surfing in general. If someone would kindly offer to assist us in answering a reasonable and pre-selected amount of those (certainly nothing excessive), we would also be grateful.
In the interests of knowledge, empowerment et al, I hope very much you will respond positively to my request. We would be happy to offer a subscription to the printed Project Eyeball (http://eyeball.asia1.com.sg) at a very discounted rate.
