So Company with great history, like N#ski# cant even Guarantee their refund terms. So what if they have long history. from 90% refund term dropped until 60- 70% and you call this FAIR. Sorry to fellow singaporeans, but it seems that maybe too many local consumers used the product until the minimum required and then went to the company to demand a refund.... thus contributing to the reason for a change in their policy. I hearsay only hor... and I also hearsay that for this same reason their operations in china also cannot have the 90% refund term...

Scam are ideas which orginated from people whereby they carry it out via a medium (through company or internet or others)
It's people who made various different companies' reputation go bad, thus it affected and caused the stigma on MLM which is a proper marketing strategy as a matter of fact.
We can't lump the whole thing together just because they are similar, but there's still differences between each and every different company.
There's good, and there's bad, depending on who you approach to go down to the company.
Even though the company might be good, but there will still be some black-sheeps in every company - that's the way things are, thus we should learn to choose the right person to bring us down.
If you meet a negative people down, than go down again, but find another person.
Example: Sales/Business: They only have their eyes set of selling and earning profits thus it's very normal to hear Hard-Selling, Pressurising-Selling, Emotion Selling, Fear Selling tatics to just earn the 1-time profit.
Only genuine salespeople will be disciplined to explain and let the customers go back to think.
If anyone wants to know how to determine if the person is the black sheep and want to find a better person to tour the company. Than i might be able to suggest a few ways to help you improve your impression of that certain company. (applicable to all companies)
Example: Just treat it like shopping lor, the more you shop, the more you see and ask, the smarter you are as a consumer and thus in time to come, you know how to choose the right products, and not to be manipulated by the sales people in future.

Maybe there's nth wrong wif MLM as a business system by itself. But fer sure, there's a SERIOUS prb regarding how Singaporean MLMers carry out their sales and recruitment, their philopsophy of it (Yay, I can finally haf a job tt dun req. me to slog so hard, I still can further my studies while doing tis business. ), and their motives in doing so. (Yay, BMW by 26 yrs old, yay, SDM by 26 yrs old, I'm a totally big fu|ck, man!)
Perhaps, those foreign MLM companies do well, maybe cos' they noe abt business betta, better business acumen overall, take drastic measures to prove the viability of their products? But the reverse can be said fer SG. MLM.will.never.be.huge.in.SG. Period. Why? Cos' of the underhand tactics tt MLMers use. Dishonesty, lies, false promises, betrayal, greed, self-profit. All of these are alrdy synonmous wif MLMers, and it takes very huge effort to overhaul the image of MLM in Singapore.
First up, those phoney recruitment calls frm VE. It takes one guy wif intense hate fer MLM and lots of time, to actually record the phone convo, and sue them and bring it up to court. Most of us are indifferent and unwilling to blow up matters. (Aiya kena con to listen 2 hrs of crap, kena psycho to do tis sh!t somemore. Aiya, suah lor, nxt time be more careful) I believe tis is the mentality of most of us here. If we're more proactive, u'll see the companies folding one by one in a rapid measure.
How abt those stupid 'frenz' tt we wish to forget foreva, who invited us fer a meal, to 'catch up wif old times'? Dishonesty and betrayal at their epitome in such situations. Who'll still want such dishonest frenz, much less be their business partner? I've received emails frm angmos frm overseas, asking me if I'm interested in doing business and regular MLM stuff. At least they're HONEST. Maybe tt's y they're successful. Honesty is a very integral part of business.
In short, u MLMers shld really wake up ur bloody ideas, and start dealing honestly like regular businessman. The way u guys manipulate our thinking (by spamming us wif business plans and MLM brainwashed talk), our trust (oh those stupid frenz frm the past who suddenly 'renewed' their interested in u), our expectations (fu|ck those phoney job offers. I swear to sue the nxt one who tries to trick me into MLM by offering an 'admin' job), is very unacceptable. So, wise up, and actually do some research on why it's so successful in other countries, but not yet in SG, instead of fantasizing of ur dumb BMW and 5 Fig salary day and night. -
To me, if a system cannot deal with human behaviours, then the system fail, no matter how many times you can say system is good but humans are at fault. We all can go theoretical and being academic whole day, but if it fails, its of no use to us in reality. And we all should be aim to be realistic
And i agree with mightyflameboy's last point, that though the ideals of MLM is that it suspercede and is supposed to take over as the so called next generation marketing, business or whatever terms they choose to call it, it hampered by rampants frauds, hardselling and lowest level of professionalim
The members turned it into a inward looking self contained business industry very cut off from reality, the reality of consumers behaviour and corporate professionalism. -

1) Everyone actually can do Business, but the deciding factor of whether it Succeed or Fail muchly depends on the knowledge, experience, stratergy and how it is being put into application, if they are any uniqueness and strong faith + Direction. (a mixture of what I learnt and also from Think and Grow Rich)
Simply said; As long as they can deliver, than it's a good business, but at the end of the day, the business that makes a customer leave with a smile is a successful business.
2) Drastic Measures to prove their vability of products - it's a VERY NORMAL SALES PROCEDURE in fact. If you want to win and succeed in a business, you have to sell, and get the customers to come back for more.
How to attract customers, when you know the strengths and weaknesses of various products in line of your own product category, than sell it.
Me too products shows a weakness in leaders running the company as they are just copycats, copycats often result in Lose-Lose situation whereby nobody wins, thus all fighting against one another and profit goes Red thus Closes.

Why some people perceive Foriegn Companies as 'better' is because when they enter the market, they at least will do Research and Ground Work which boils down to Professionalism, Merticulous, Their Motive of setting up a company (Highly Advanced Knowledge, not for the normal hoppers in any business)
To look for a good company with long term vision, you need to do a lot of research and look at a lot of factors (Observation skills is a MUST!!)

1) 'A good business leaves the customer happy'. Well said! But I tink MLMers piss more ppl off than those they convince. This forum is a very good physical testimony to that I've claimed to be. True, everyone can do business. Why MLM is not tt big in SG is cos' of wad u mentioned, lack of professionalism.
SG MLM companies are too focused on recruitment, rather than consumers' interests. Those 16 - 18 yr old kiddos without receiving adequate training, are expected to go out into the marketplace to sell the products. It's laughable how the VE guy tried to explain the products' viability in proper English, but out of his mouth came Hokkien Bengish 'Engrish'.
Another gd pt by u, 'success depends on the direction of the company'. As for local MLM companies, I tink the direction is 'getting a BMW by 26 yrs old'. I noticed how most MLMers harp on their personal benefits 90% of the time, and only 10% of the time is dedicated to explain their products, and only when u show vulnerability tt they decide to preach to u abt how gd the products are, to try clinch a deal/recruitment. Is that gd business? *shrugs*
2) My definition of 'drastic measures' is not how local MLMers do their business. "This thing is gd, sure work one! See, it's certified by wadever fu|ck ministry! U dun try, u regret ah!" Wad I was referring to, is tt foreign MLMers may be more willing to try their products out BY THEMSELVES first, using themselves as guinea pigs, to prove to the community tt they're convinced tt they're selling a trustworthy product. Ppl would see their conviction, and would be more open-minded to give the products a try.
Local MLMers are juz given stupid theory talks abt how gd the products are, and after seeing a few magazine articles and certificates, they totally buy into the stories of those managers. Do they actually try the products to determine if they're in the right honourable company? Most of the time, when they sell the products to their frenz n family, it's usually wif a profit n career motive in mind, rather than genuine concern fer their well-being, esp. if the products are health-related.
In a nutshell, local MLM companies must ditch the fantasies of getting rich by themselves, and start focusing on the consumers' benefits. Once they wake up to this reality, it'll make them use better business tactics and haf better business ethics, in turn gaining the consumers' trust, and riches will come naturally. Nuff' said.
