None of the others MLM companies can boast to be a major sponsor of Miss Singapore and can appoint Miss Singapore to be its spokesperson eventually. Very innovative ways of marketing.

Nowadays, MLM companies are going out of the box. Looking at innovative ways to recruit and broadcast and sell their products. Imagine having a pageant and make every contestants say how good the company is and how good their products have made them look ultra beautiful....clear their bowels...clear toxins....

There are a few issues that can be discussed arising from the fact that a MLM company is using/funding pageants as a form of marketing/advertisement .
* Role of Corporate Governance/ funding for pageants
Major pageants often cost anything from $50k-$250k to run. Hence there is always a need to source for sponsorship:
- Cash Prizes for winners
- Vouchers/prizes in kind for contestants
- Gown sponsors
- Makeup/hair sponsors
- Venue sponsors
- Choreographer/ fashion stylist
- Grooming/catwalk trainer
- MC, sound, lights, stage sponsors
If sponsorships for the above mentioned are not possible. The the organise would have to risk running it at a loss which can be a substantial amount. However, the following can be done to offset some of the costing.
- Tickets for preview/pre-final shows
- Tickets for actual finals
- Rental of gowns
- Paid makeup/hair services
- SMS voting
- Print brochure and sell advertisements
However, its still a very risky business as only a minority of pageants ever break even, with most making loss/huge loss. Some of these losses contribute to the non-payment of prize money to winners, contractors etc which makes it a even worst marketing exercise for all involved.
Hence as a MLM company, there should be adequate cost benefit analysis/ cost effective analysis done to fund and start such pageants. As a majority of the funds in any MLM comes from investors and other stakeholders, funds should only be used if there is a contingency plan in place to minimise any loss sustained.
Corporate governance plays a part in minimising unnecessary risk to the company funds which can be used in other lower risks ventures. Proper accountability will ensure that loss is kept at a minimum and every action properly monitored and accountable by the committee in charge. -

Is this for real? I thought international beauty pageants go for looks AND brains. Okay the company can do the external makeover but does the company provide the contestants with intellect? Obviously not.......... -
You got your facts wrong. The best performing contestants get to go directly into the finals of Miss/ Mrs World (S'pore), not represent Singapore immediately. Why do you want to criticize those contestants? The overwhelming majority of them are not in MLM, so even if you have something against LFI or MLM in general your ah lian & coffeeshop auntie comment is extremely uncalled for. WHat if that was your girlfriend or mother taking part & someone else were to give your loved ones that label?
Were you even there in the first place???

Is that the seafood restaurant where they show the tv commercial & say their lobsters are bigger than a little girl??? Personally I find eating such a large lobster to be a bit scary. its my first time i heard contestants are being pushed through this way, besides, issit Miss World Singapore, or Miss and Mrs World Singapore, or Miss or Mrs World Singapore? kinda confusing which of these contests really are, because i know Mrs and Miss World are held separately

the judges in the Lfi contest are the judges from Miss and Mrs World Singapore. So the standards of the Lfi pageant matches the one for Miss and Mrs world Singapore.

There are two sides to every coin. Yes, LFI do have plenty of extremely good presenters. They are so freaking passionate, knowledgable & some of the are quite frankly extremely charismatic. I personally know a few of them. So it is no wonder that all people need is to come down once to be convinced, or in your own words "brainwashed". In my opinion, only people with no opinion of their owns or weak willed can be brainwashed. The other side of the coin is this. Your friend came down. He / She saw what the products are all about, what they can do, how they can help people, how HUGE the market for these products is, & also saw the potential of the MLM industry, the potential of the company, etc. They saw AN opportunity. They grabbed it.
So which is the case? Do you dare to find out for ourself, no strings attached?
Anyway, seriously, I think brainwashing is not a very nice word to use, irregardless of the context. We follow our parents religion without really understanding what are the teachings, is this brainwashing? We usually accept close friend's suggestions, isn't this also brainwashing? Especially when a friend makes a bad recommendation & yet we do not "sever ties" or "get back at them". We just let it go like water rolling off a duck's back.

is it a dream that we make pple believe it? or we are stating the fact that u can achieve ur dreams with ur own abilities and with a good system. the normal content of dreams are those luxuaries. those are achieveable when u work all of ur life saving ur money and going through the ladders of coporate world. ALOT of pple don't ACHIEVE that because u just lack of the education and system to get there. u can only blame yourself if u can't achieve ur own goal. don't u really wonder who are the cause of who u are to this day? Its normal for sponsors to make special arrangements if a lot of money is used for sponsorship. Is the selection criteria the same for Miss LFI and Miss Singapore World? What happens if the winners does not fit the criteria of Miss Singapore? take for example, too old. Another representative will take her place? Or the winner will continue on to represent the company but can never win the pageant?
Will the company have representative in the panel of judges for Miss LFI? What's the proportion in the panel from the organisers of Miss Singapore?
Will the company be judging Miss World finals later on? So can protect the interests since already spend so much money on sponsorship?
What will the public perception and comments be like for the company to appoint representatives into a mainstream pageant finals directly. Contestants representing the company instead of individual?
Is this a good use of company funds? What are the returns generated from this exercise? Did a Cost Benefit Analysis/ Cost effectiveness Analysis? Feasibility studies? -
