Anybody tried Priceline SG before?

Me recently quite scared of those popular travel fairs - the crowd is too big man! Thought of booking airtickets or hotel stays or both online for my upcoming HongKong trip.Simply name your own price on Priceline.com.sg. is the latest ecommence travel site that i saw.
Anybody got input to share?

Recently i managed to get JW Marriott Hongkong for 150 bucks per night excluding taxes.That's quite a good bargain isn't it?
Given that we only select the areas of preference and the star quality of hotels. -

I booked the sg priceline site wan ....juz trying my luck and i got it man!
maybe i did not restrict myself to 1 area only when selecting the location. -

yup...name your price and input your travel details tat all...within an hr, u will know whether your offer is successful or not.
i got HK for like 350 bucks ...United Airlines...not bad right?
u only know the airline and timing after offer accepted, abit inconvenient i find here. -

hi.. i am also quite hesitated to use priceline.. coz as what some of u guys mention, there's no free lunch in this world... so i am wondering if there's any gimmicks or catch to it lor...
heard from a colleague that it is actually more expansive than normal.. but from here.. it seems that most of u guys get better deal than from the normal travel agents...
Another question i have is that when u enter your name and details, i assume they will book the ticket for you once they have found seats for you... Do they have something like informing u that they have XXX seats in XXX airline and ask u to confirm if u want to accept the offer??
Can more ppl share their experiences coz it seems that only 3-4 ppl here enjoy this new method of booking...

It really depends on when your offer is submitted.You are likely to obtain better offers when u choose less peak days for example and no they do not prompt u for final confirmation.

No worries, i went over to priceline in australia on a trip there and it works even more over there. They have a retail shop selling other stuff too.
The thing about Priceline SG is just selling air tix and hotel rooms. And if you haven know, there are always many planes leaving not fully booked. and in simple economics, these are costs. So airlines rather sell it cheaper than not sell it. So priceline enters the picture. It links up with these airlines. then here comes us who wans a tix and say we want it anytime from today till 2 days later to Bangkok at a price lower by 20%. Priceline will take our requirement and check whether any airline will take the offer, if yes, u are done.
but dun go around p uttig in prices like $50 for a tix to london, priceline will simply tell you they will try but it is highly likely no one will accept the offer...
so its safe, try it.
