Can MLMers openly advertise these days?

I know once upon a time, nobody will advertise for MLM products.
But these days, I see people giving out flyers on "Lose weight" and "Do business" which obviously is some wellness products of MLM companies.
I remember last time they were not allowed to do this. They were only allowed to talk to people first, then hand out flyers. This was a restriction by law, I think. But what is happening now? -

But but but.... really these days they really give out flyers very actively lor. Can you imagine, every MRT station? Last time they used to do survey. They will stop you and ask you some qn relating to health matters.
And it seems the present batch of all the various MLMers are very IT savvy or what. Almost every other one will have own website presenting product info and also allow you to order online or something.
Then I also saw them pasting ads on HDB void decks. -

gui then believe sia
on the survey form no write the word Nuskin
they oso no say they from Nuskin
the questions are quite general questions on face and skin care
but hor they line up one whole row of Nuskin paper bags (dunno wats inside) along the wall liao

I believe in the personal touch, thats why I dun openly advertise...Only through sincerity can one actually share the business...with the helping pple mindset...advertising seems more like desperately looking for pple, which is not what it shld be..and my philosophy...only those who are interested I will personally explain etc.

I choose to believe that MLM is a people communication business. Sincerity, honesty binds network. But once a while good advertisement is a good strategy for invitation and even mass recruitment. I think there should be a balance of both.
Unfortunately, sincere and honest MLMers are hard to come by nowsaday. And like what the rest have mentioned, subtle sell may not work as well as before now. Probably they have to re-inject/innovate and think of some new marketing strategies from time to time.
Yes, I've also came across professional website done by mlm groups presenting their professionalism and unique identity. Some of them are really good.
I think doing survey in public needs a licence from the authority.

i agree with wat Concerned_man says....
actually, i dun understand a point is that, even when we truly and honestly share the business, giving the TRUE facts without any overclaiming and letting pple have their own choice in deciding without any pushing etc..pple still say that there is a lack of integrity etc...

Yes. give the full info, let people make the decision. Can not cheat in these business. it is a long term business. good relation matters.

People are getting smarter now after they learn so many bad things about MLM. You know it's so hard to CONvince people after they have read so many peopl have been CONned by MLMs. -

I agree that pple are more informed regarding bad mlm companies out there, but that doesnt mean they are smarter or less smarter or whatsoever. I also know about all the bad mlm companies before I even joined. I did a lot of research etc..even read bout bad stuffs.. but I know not to be biased just becoz of one bad or black sheep...or even a few...thus i do my proper analysis before deciding whether to do this business, and this principle is what i am hoping everyone to follow...that is do not make a decision based on what someone tells you, be it gd or bad, but to analyse and truly understand what u r doing..this is what i truly consider SMART...and also not to dismiss everything as bad...

i know when u start joining herbalife they said no advertisement allowed, i tried to find out if there is any regulation on this, apparently no
its because in Australia, where some herbalife distributors i met come from, said they were allowed to distribute flyers in australia, but sg gahmen say cannot..
by the way, is Diamond Water confirmed an MLM coy? -
My awareness about Diamond Water is that it is a MLM company. I do not know much about this company, but feedbacks about Diamond Water product were superb.
Yes, it used to be that MLM do not do advertisement in the inception phase of this industry in SG. Strictly by word of mouth only. Then some smarter companies realised that Singapore is too small a market and there was a need to re-inject and reinnovate their marketing strategies and hence we now see advertisements. For a handful few or maybe just one, went further on TV and was a sponsor for NKF show and National Day. Part of a branding process.
More unique strategies will continue to emerge.

In addition, the company will be sponsoring a TV program called Health in Pulse (Zhong ai yi sen) in Channel 8, every thursday 8.30pm-9pm from 20th Oct onwards. The program will talk about the common dieases in some occupations like entrepreneurs, drivers, chef, athlete, stewardess, reporters etc... Things are happening fast in this company! Stock rose 300% within a month! Sales in Malaysia has over-taken Singapore. The upcoming market will be Indonesia. I have been with BWL for 4 months.....
We have a manager meeting every month and we get to speak with the founders Dr. Dora and Dr. Doreen, who gives us very good advices in doing our business. One thing I find in this company is that the distributors dun say too much about their skin care product, people usually ask them "how come your skin is shinny, smooth and got rosy cheeks?" Most people "fall off their chairs" when they realise the female distributors at bwl dun put on any make-up!
And if you are a Singaporean, why not support a Singapore listed MLM company? By the way, BWL has also won the "Singapore Promising Brand" award. -

anyway, there are alot of people out there that dont do make up and dont use bwl but their skin still very good. hmmm... how to explain this??
