you know according to economics theory, it is sometimes worth to pay more for the right products than the wrong products because the middleman adds value to the consumers by providing the extra information, service and probably other knowledge. which explains why products brought at say harvey norman is more expensive than if you buy in over the internet. I'm not going to deny that middleman adds to consumers' satisfaction. Another example is like when you want to sell house, you get an agent, coz he has the connections he can fetch you a higher price.. for you use ebay as middle man coz they can reach a world wide audience... or celebrities/footballers having agents to help them find jobs that gives higher pay.... but I feel the middleMEN value that we paid for MLM is way over the roof... for products not extremely valuable... and for informations that sometimes even unnecessary.

Offcourse there'se good and bad mlm's - like good and bad anything else. MLM is still in its early beginning. More laws, regulations and not least knowledge about systems and companies will follow as a result of failure.
Whether some of you guys like it or not; - MLM is here to stay.
..But make sure you stay with a serious company. Meaning anything from amway to tupperware and mine of course...
If you get involved in mlm; you know its hard work, but the payoff can be amazingly satisfactory. And not least - you will get new contacts, if you behave and do not try to scam or oversell them. Tell the thruth.
As to people being persistent in their mlm promotion. Well you should know that mlm is actually contributing a lot to the total economy in many contries these days. When asked; Donald Trump said that if he were to start from schratch - he would start an mlm.

For those who brought up the name of the company Amway. I believe that you haven't done your own research at all. Amway was researched by Forbes Magazine and among other things, Forbes uncovered that:
1) Amway is owned almost entirely by the founders and their immediate families.
2) They've been sued for slander and they lost. Amway actually spread rumours that Proctor & Gamble (which makes stuff like Pringles potato chips and Gilette shavers) was an instrument of Satan.
3) The average Amway MLMer, makes US$780 from sales to others. However, on average, these people will consume US$1068 themselves. Also minus of the profit from losses made for telephone bills, transport, rallies,
publicity material and other expenses to expand the business... and ultimately Amway earns, but the MLMers lose.
4) Amway has hired gangsters to "rough up" and threaten people who were critical of the company.

for almost every mlmers who are down there...pretty much of the time you're spending money and getting some discounts here about about...and these discounts make it seem like one is earning. given the same time and energy, more revenue could be generated through regular buy and sell transactions...perhaps even a bah chor mee hawker could measure up. -

I'm not an MLM member by the way... but I feel that perhaps out of the many MLM companies out there, there may be 1 or 2 rare ones that really make money, and in an ethical way.

yup, i sound like i am promoting mlm..but i only wish to educate most of the pple, esp those who were conned..that the industry is not totally horrid or every company is a scam etc.. there are good companies and sincere pple out there who does the business in an ethical manner.

I think the rule of thumb should be: if you are not convinced, don't join in.
However if the risk is small (eg US10 a month), would you consider taking that risk to see if you can make it? Sometimes its all about making calculated risks if you have done as much research as you can but havent found all the factors or have that niggling doubt because you don't know what question to ask.
Because of high joining costs, MLM participants sometimes or more likely most of the time are pressured by themselves to recruit more people to recover their cost. But the real cost of this is the potential loss of friendships. IMagine your friend alwas bugging you to join his mlm. The MLM fails in human economics.
Thus, I think that if you want to join an MLM, consider if you will be pressured to recover your costs (weigh in the factors of high startup cost and recurring costs) and if you will feel pressured, its likely your upline will be feeling pressured too. So put yourself in his shoes. I think this is one way to find a good MLM but I am open to comments.
Don't be swayed by people who claim they can make so much money in a month. Do more in depth research. Its good that the company has such good testimonials. The difficult part is when you join, it may takes a long long time for you to reap the income that the claimant once claimed he had. So join only if you have the strong will to wait it out. The higher the return, usually the longer the wait. After all its not some get rich quick scheme.
Last time, it was buyer beware. Now, it is joiner beware.
As i previously posted some guidelines to joining that you may want to follow, though its my own opinions.
Good luck to you all in achieving your financial goals, regardless of the path you take. -

Sorry to say that, but the majority of MLM supporters on this forum really have no idea that their topics on new MLMs and trying to promote their type of MLM is really a waste of time to read and reply. They keep on having tons of promotions that no one bothers to read or reply or show interest, yet they are so persistent like they're parasites or viruses to society.
Just remember that if one tries to tap into one's own internal network of family, relatives and friends...eventually they're run out of downlines, because of the fact there's a limited supply to begin with but come to think of it, MLM ignores the basic economic principles in the first place.
Perhaps they should realize this forum is not the place to come advertise or promote their MLM but rather this forum is to wake people up to the idea that MLM is not really anyone's cup of tea. People are not so easily open to it once they are more educated and this forum serves it purpose of educating people to the supposedly advantages and hidden disadvantages of MLM.

yup, there is no easy money...no matter what we all do, its hard work.. we are not owners of the company, but an opportunity that the company offers to pple who just simply wishes to earn an extra income for their living etc..this was the principle that started the business...to give hope to pple...
even though today there are numerous companies who choose to do otherwise..but i still strongly believe in the original belief and principle of giving hope to someone else...and to work towards my dreams...after all..i have nothing to lose.
Just think upon it as an individual franchise...where the start-up cost is low..since there is no shop to rent..etc...thus it can be reached out to more pple..true..the products was not manufactured by me..etc..but i bought the rights to distribute the products and am making a living or personal business...that is also why it is impt to choose to partner with a strong company with really top quality products with competitive prices
Without this opportunity..many pple would not have the chance to live a better life.

Yup, I agree that a lot of mlms out there are quite bad, and personally myself, I am quite sad by it..
But there are still gd companies around which provide true opportunities and top quality products and if one is willing to take a look at it, it may help him or her to change his life for the better etc..

please... what you guys are saying are very common sense stuff.. like "dont work for money, let money work for you." you guys are not at all offering any useful insight to how to biz is run or how ppl can succeed in it... I'm inclined to believe you guys have no ideas yourself... u are just repeating what ppl in ur industry are saying.
if you guys insist there are ppl who are geninuely successful in ur line other than the owner of the mlm company and those ppl the owner pay for their cars and suits. give concrete examples... like how u convince ppl to buy ur products... what makes others agree with ur products, why they are willing to pay more when there are better and cheaper choices other there. you guys are just creating a hype down here without any concrete evidence to support by using terms like this is a global business, the wave of the future...come on..
