Hmm.... reminds me of scientology...Originally posted by laurence82:to be classified as mlm, the pastors need to have few members who recruit new members who recruit new members and so on and so forth
and each member will have so called 'comissions' for each members recruited or amount of donations made by recruited persons...
and if the information given by the forumnites in the past topics are right, donations mostly go towards church, pastor (who knows) and salary of employees...
so my answer to this question is no, they do not resemble mlm in form or structure....
How? Please elaborate.Originally posted by pisces8:There is some similarity. I think the MLM companies borrow / copy the tactics used by the churches in carrying out their way of doing business.
One member brings in 2 members. Those 2 members like the church, then they covince 4 other ppl to come in. they dont get paid for they believe that each member they bring in is a service to god. Thats what I think. Someone correct me If Im wrong....Originally posted by Cindyfeh:How? Please elaborate.
So does it mean that MLM based on the system of "spreading thw word of God"?Originally posted by laurence82:I am afraid u guys have to read up on Amway, who officially pave the way and started the MLM business in US in 1950s. It is plausible they use christian evangelism as a model to start MLM.
But i beg to differ that CHC or in fact any evangelistic or charismatic churches are MLM in structure and form. There are few very technical differences i must say, one being churches deal with spirituality while mlm deals with business strategies.
Although there are seemingly few similarities between them, i dont its right to label churches directly as having mlm structure. i will use it only in discussion regarding churches that seemingly want to con people out of their money. Even so, it is not right to label CHC as having mlm structure, the point being pointed out in earlier post.
'direct selling' or single level marketing or SLM' would be the best parallel in business world to compare with CHC.
which always lead me to need to ask this questionOriginally posted by shade343:So does it mean that MLM based on the system of "spreading thw word of God"?

May be ... May be.... we can use really copy the MLM way and build a church and be richer than ....!
The ranks goes like this:
Arch Pastor
Senior Pastor
Junior pastor
Pastor undergrad
Senior Cell group leader
Cell group leader
Assistant cell group leader
Normal member
A person starts as a normal member by contributing 10% of his salary every month. That is an initial membership fee.
Each new paying member he brings in, he will recieve 2 % (out of the 10%). He will be promoted to Assistant CG leader when he recruited 10 members or his total monthly pool (total of what he and his recruits contribution) reaches $X.
Of course other than getting some income from recruiting people, he can also go about selling the music cd and sermons.
Hmm...talk about using the name of God In vain. thanks for enlightening me. I remeber all these group leader and the different ranks a church member has. Probably based on this?Originally posted by Cindyfeh:hmm...

harvest money/cash/profits from the city dwellers ?Originally posted by laurence82:btw..why they name the church city harvest? anyone noe?
the purpose of the church is to transform lives, nort to rake in revenue for its pastors. i'm afraid you haf a misconception of the christian faith as a whole. a church is considered by many christians to be the house of god, it has no room for pragmatism of any sort. if you read the bible, you will come across a chapter which depicts jesus shouting at the temple goers for conducting their businesses in the temple.Originally posted by Cindyfeh:hmm...

according to the holy scriptures, jesus said that the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. he also said that as christians, we ought to obey the great commission which calls us to spread the faith to all the ends of the earth. harvest, in this context, refers to the converts rather than the monetary benefits the church rakes in.Originally posted by harder boy:harvest money/cash/profits from the city dwellers ?
