if not, why they always preach and emphasis on tariff n making their followers donate ? Is it MLM using religion as the "product" ? -
to be classified as mlm, the pastors need to have few members who recruit new members who recruit new members and so on and so forth
and each member will have so called 'comissions' for each members recruited or amount of donations made by recruited persons...
and if the information given by the forumnites in the past topics are right, donations mostly go towards church, pastor (who knows) and salary of employees...
so my answer to this question is no, they do not resemble mlm in form or structure....

There is some similarity. I think the MLM companies borrow / copy the tactics used by the churches in carrying out their way of doing business.

One member brings in 2 members. Those 2 members like the church, then they covince 4 other ppl to come in. they dont get paid for they believe that each member they bring in is a service to god. I am afraid u guys have to read up on Amway, who officially pave the way and started the MLM business in US in 1950s. It is plausible they use christian evangelism as a model to start MLM.
But i beg to differ that CHC or in fact any evangelistic or charismatic churches are MLM in structure and form. There are few very technical differences i must say, one being churches deal with spirituality while mlm deals with business strategies.
Although there are seemingly few similarities between them, i dont its right to label churches directly as having mlm structure. i will use it only in discussion regarding churches that seemingly want to con people out of their money. Even so, it is not right to label CHC as having mlm structure, the point being pointed out in earlier post.

what does christians gain by converting another guy? its like accumulating merits?
as to ur question, u need to look from two perspectives.
CHC gain money by asking its members to donate and recruit. the difference between it and other churches likes in this controversy over whether its a scam. Even if its a scam, the best word to describe it is either just direct selling or SLM..
If its purely spreading the word of god, then the parallel is MLM..the gain being..whatever christian gain by converting others...
Btw, though people loves to compare the personality cult surrounding for example Pastor Kong with that surrounding MLM businessman, i also beg to differ.
This concept has been used around the world, in many successful businesses, in different extremities. -

so CHC is SLM ? so its some kind of LM after all... But i tot chirstian pray to only one god, coz its a monothestic religion.... dunno how to spell....

Though I am not Christian, and i am in MLM, but it is not ethical to speak bad about the religion, it is the ethusaism of the followers to believe in the higher power, just like some of us here, including myself. When we feel helpless against some incidents, we will go to the temple to pray for the well-being. The way of the CHC is that they are trying to salvage the "sinned" and hope they repent. Religion is something that lead you to the correct path, the contribution that they offer is just like we go temple pray and give xiang you qian, it is just that they are done in a systematic manner, if you do not want to contribute, it is fine actually, just like you go temple pray pray, then never contribute, same meaning. I do not want to classify religion as a sacred kinda of thing, nor the same for MLM though it is a better way of leading a better life.
But come to think of it, be it Religion or MLM, it will all depend the people in the "system", one pastor whom was in the news was suspected of misappropriating of funds, there are also people who use MLM to do fraud/scam.
Please do not judge the Religion or MLM by the people, judge it when you are the person in the shoes/system and not the one walking around bared-footed, remarking about this and that.
Sometimes, religion or MLM is also like the Matrix, you take the red pill, you maybe the "One", but if you take the blue pill, that's it. Furthermore, just to correct about the ranking system in Christianity, the most you can work up to is the senior cell group leader and not to the arch pastor, cos the "One" they believe in will distribute the kinda appointment they will be holding in the church and not based on democracy, however, MLM wise, with your hard work, good product, good company, etc, you will reach the peak if you don't give up.
Just my 2 cents.

the purpose of the church is to transform lives, nort to rake in revenue for its pastors. i'm afraid you haf a misconception of the christian faith as a whole. a church is considered by many christians to be the house of god, it has no room for pragmatism of any sort. if you read the bible, you will come across a chapter which depicts jesus shouting at the temple goers for conducting their businesses in the temple.Originally posted by Cindyfeh:hmm...

eg. company earns 10k boss say net profit is 1k but in reality is 9k... tax and everything done by the boss so worker lan lan cannot say anything also... -

mlm is purely secular while chc associates itself with religion.
