Retail profit is you purchase an item as a member at $75. The retail price to non member is $100. So your retail profit is $25. And your upline might be making $25 commission from your sale (depending on the organisation).
Royalty is for those who manage to have a few levels of downline. Only when the downline make money, then you get royalty. That's where the actual money comes in. But it's a lot of hard work before that, cuz you need to "expand" your organisation to have these few levels of downlines. And also you must be able to teach them how to work. Only then, you see the royalty. -
