Don't confess,buy her gifts & then pop the question. It really isn't going to work the beautiful way.
Do the simple way, like what i do, and it doesn't fail, even for my buddies. First thing's first, never ask! "Erm, can you be my gf/stead?" That's is SOoooo boring and seriously, you don't have to ask for it.
Hold her hands whenever you walk side by side with her, take the initiative and please, DON'T ask, "Eh, can i hold your hands?" Just hold it! If she starts to wrestle your hands off, it just means that she isn't into you.
As the day passes, she will get very comfortable while holding your hands, and naturally, she will get used to it.
Start kissing her whenever you have the chance, whether in the MRT or bus. Whisper into her ears and then just a peck on the cheek will do. Hug her when you send her home, then finish off with a kiss on the cheek or the lips, but make sure she is comfortable doing that.
