The nominees have been announced...what do u all think?
It's ridiculous...F4 and WeWe for Best Group...Geez...it's a mockery...it's not even most handsome group...but this category should be judged on SUBSTANCE...not popularity.
And Local singer category...Sean Wang Fu Hua...kaoz...that DIY guy? Geez...no impact and he got in...tanya and kit did not even have full albums...
Celeste for best newcomer? and best local singer?
Kit Chan and Rene Liu is Ya Tai Zui Shou Tui Chong Nu Ge Shou Award (Asia Pac Preferred Female Vocalist)...surely if this is an acting category...i support rene...but singer? Is this nomination juz to please rene's fans? And Kit...she is good...but what has she been doing...almost no singing...
The greatest thing...i dun tink we are allowed to vote in the most popular categories. -

Judging from the nomination list, sigh... to think that the Singapore Hits Awards has now degenerated to such state, not unlike those music awards in HK. For goodness sake, like what Bryan Wong in Quan Xin Zong Dong Yuan always says, "QC" (Quality Control) PLEASE!!!

actualli personalli i feel this normination list is not so bad..seems tat this time they are emphasizing more on the local market..which might be a good sign for the local music industry loh...

Actually the list is not surprising. Like attitude mentioned, the list is compiled based on the results of the long hu bang, so popularity naturally accounted for a big part of the list.
It's like that everywhere, anyway. Msia awards recently gave Penny Dai 9 awards. She is good, but can you imagine her getting 9 awards in Singapore or Taiwan? Harlem and Guang Liang won too, the former sang a Msian composition, and the latter is, well, a Msian.
HK is no better. Some years ago, there was bound to be at least a song from each of the Heavenly Kings in the annual TopTen. Obviously, they were in there as they had huge supporting base and the TV stations could garner support for the event from their fans. Despite saying that, they are always willing to give others a chance, Hacken always manages to squeeze in with some thing too.
Taiwanese awards sound the most "fair" to me among all the Asian awards, though it is so localised that one outside of Taiwan will ask who some of the winners are. Xiu Lan Ma Ya? Ji Xiao Jun?...You get the drift. -
I think the new nominating format is quite silly... 10 nominations in the main categories! Trying to please too many pple I guess. I agree more and more of these awards are losing their "Q.C" What a sorry state
