  funi...those albums which sell like hotcakes (eg. Stef's kite, Jay's fantasy, Mayday's ren sheng hai2, F4's meteor rain etc) are not included in the top 5 choices of the ST reporter...duno y...

  I think the ST music critics tend to snub at the more mainstream albums, while I-Weekly's choices are more in line with popular appeal.
  Anyone one know what are picks of Zaobao and other local publications?

  it was reported in one of the papers (4got which one) tt Jay's albums sold more than 45000 copies locally...can't believe it...

  But they picked Peggy Hsu's Balloon and Sandy Lam's Yuan Lai unanimously...i mean i weekly and straits times...
  
  Funny they left out jay, mayday, yanzi, faye and some other gems...
  
  But F4 can't and won't be in lar.

  ZaoBao Sunday interviewed music critics from some papers and mags. Jay's Fantasy was the Album of the Year of 3 or 4 critics (out of 8 i think?). Dreamz FM 3 had a vote too, choice by ZaoBao's reporter Eason's album was also one music critic's fave. Can't remember about the rest though. But I believe "Kite" was not among the chosen.
  
  I believe that Jay's album triumphs over Yanzi's a little probably because he wrote all his songs. Not to say that Yanzi's album is not good, but I realise music critics tend to favour those singers who produce their own stuff.

  I agree with the point that some music critics tend to be a bit biased toward those shi li artistes who sing, write and produce their stuff.... sort of like earn brownie points for the artistes.

  Nonsense, Shi Li Pai are gd. in their vocals and hence tend 2 sing better... A Mei, Julia Peng, Shino and other powerful singers
